Common reasons to call
- Sharp or rough tooth edge
- Broken filling or crown
- Pain when biting or releasing pressure
- Visible crack line or missing tooth structure
- Temperature sensitivity after a fracture
A broken tooth can range from a small chip to a deep fracture. We evaluate the tooth and discuss whether bonding, a filling, crown, root canal treatment, or removal is the best option.
Avoid chewing on the broken tooth and call for guidance. Earlier evaluation can reduce the chance of additional fracture or infection.
Dao Dental Group serves patients from North Houston, Greenspoint, Imperial Valley, Aldine, Spring, Humble, and nearby Houston 77060 communities.
Avoid chewing on that side, save any large tooth fragments if possible, and call the office. If there is trauma, bleeding, or severe swelling, seek urgent care.
Some cracked teeth can be saved with a crown or root canal and crown. Deep vertical cracks may have a poor prognosis.
A small chip may not be urgent, but pain, sharp edges, or exposed dentin should be evaluated soon.
