Root canal treatment may be recommended when the nerve inside a tooth is inflamed or infected. The goal is to relieve pain, remove infection from inside the tooth, and preserve the tooth when possible.
Not every painful tooth needs a root canal. We use symptoms, clinical testing, and X-rays to discuss whether root canal therapy, a crown, extraction, or monitoring is appropriate.
Dao Dental Group serves patients from North Houston, Greenspoint, Imperial Valley, Aldine, Spring, Humble, and nearby Houston 77060 communities.
Modern root canal treatment is performed with local anesthesia. Many patients seek care because the infected tooth is already painful.
Back teeth often need a crown after root canal treatment because they are at higher risk of fracture. The final restoration depends on remaining tooth structure.
Antibiotics may help with spreading infection, but they usually do not remove the infected tissue inside the tooth.
